What to know about Harbour Island
Harbour Island, known locally as Briland, sits just off the northern tip of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Its main settlement is Dunmore Town.
The island is small. Golf carts are the main way to get around, and a rental lets you explore at your own pace.
Golf cart travel tips
- The speed limit on Harbour Island is 15 MPH.
- No riding on the beach, and carts are not allowed off Harbour Island.
- Drivers must be licensed and over 20.
- Book early for March, April, and holiday weekends. Those periods have a 4 day minimum.
- Ask us for current parking and route tips when we deliver your cart.
Arriving by ferry or water taxi
Most visitors reach Harbour Island by crossing from North Eleuthera by water taxi. Schedules and fares are set by the water taxi operators, so confirm them before you travel.

Rental arrival guidance
- Pickup and drop-off are complimentary. Delivery runs 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- We confirm a delivery time with you. That time starts your rental period.
- Your cart is due back at the same time on your last day.
- Our office is on Princess Street, next to Johnson's gas station and rentals.

Frequently asked questions
Who can rent a golf cart?
The primary driver and any other driver must be licensed and over the age of 20. Our insurance does not cover drivers under 20.
Is pickup and drop-off free?
Yes. We offer complimentary pickup and drop-off. We confirm a delivery time with you, and that time starts your rental period. Your cart is due back at the same time on your last day.
How does cancellation work?
Cancel free up to 48 hours before your reservation date and time. Within 48 hours, a fee equal to the full rental cost applies. Cancel by calling +1 242-470-5065 or emailing majorscartrentals@gmail.com.
Is there a minimum rental?
6-seater carts have a 3 day minimum. We require a 4 day minimum for reservations in March and April and over holiday weekends.
Is there a deal for longer rentals?
Standard carts get the 7th day free on rentals of 7 days or more. The discount applies automatically when you book online.
Can I take the cart off the island or onto the beach?
No. Carts must stay on Harbour Island, and riding on the beach is not allowed. The island speed limit is 15 MPH.
